Our Amazing Lessees

WGDR

Central Vermont Community Radio's mission is to give Vermonters in our rural part of the state a forum to cultivate social change, inspire more civil discourse and creativity, tell the stories of our diverse community here in Vermont, and access news and analysis in these increasingly hateful and harmful times. When you tune in to WGDR, Plainfield (91.1 FM) or WGDH, Hardwick (91.7 FM) or at WGDR.org, you will hear our commitment to:

1. Protect free speech and access to the airwaves: We are here for Vermonters today and in the future.
2. Help the helpers during emergencies: Either climate-caused like flooding or from those wishing harm on our community members or public institutions.
3. Expand locally made content: from forecasts, to stories and news from your neighbors, to music, and more. We are what our community sounds like.

With 70 local folks doing shows (of all ages, including teens!), we are capturing everyday lives, needs, and community happenings. We are responding to the spread of misinformation and fear mongering with truth and humanity. We are right there for folks, "live and local," every single day. No other radio station in Vermont (commercial, public radio, or the other 5 community stations) have this many Vermonters on the air, or give listeners so much access to the airwaves. We a two person staff, over 100 volunteers (programmers, board, and other roles) actively involved in the station and estimate that nearly 18K folks listen to the station regularly - on radio, live online, and on demand.

Maplehill School

Elmhill, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that originally provided group homes, parent support, advocacy, and education for adolescents.

Today, Elmhill operates Maplehill School, Maplehill Farm, the Maplehill AmeriCorps Volunteer Program, and the Elder Outreach Project.

Maplehill operates three programs across three campuses: the Creative Campus hosts the Greatwood Program for grades 4–7, while the East Hill and John Fowler Road Farm campuses serve students in grades 8 and above.

Our Students

Maplehill School serves Vermont students, primarily referred by local schools for specialized support under IEPs or 504 Plans. Many face behavioral challenges linked to emotional needs or learning difficulties. Students who thrive here respond best to relationship-based interventions rather than strict behavior modification. They attend to graduate from Maplehill or prepare for a return to their sending school.

Elevate Youth

Elevate Youth Services has been serving Vermont’s youth for over 50 years, rooted in the belief that every young person deserves the chance to build a life they love.

We provide the tools, skills, and resources young people need to become who they want to be and live how they want to live—with relationships and community at the heart of everything we do.

Based on the historic Goddard College campus—now reimagined as the Creative Campus—we operate two on-site shelters for homeless young adults ages 18–24, with a total capacity of 16 beds.

Through housing, outreach, case management, counseling, and community-based programs, we meet youth where they are and walk alongside them. Our vision is a Vermont where every young person belongs, thrives, and knows they matter.

Connected Circles

To connect as a community where all are seen, nurtured & encouraged to embrace life-long learning is the mission of Connected Circles, an approved independent school in Central Vermont, serving youth ages 12-22.

To accomplish this mission, we provide a trauma-sensitive environment so students who exhibit challenging behaviors feel safe while receiving academic instruction and socio-emotional support. Our programs are relationship-based and behaviors are looked at as puzzles to be solved.

We meet the students where they are and involve them in their program so they are actively engaged and feel successful.

The word “all” within our mission statement is important to note as we believe that students, staff, and families play important roles to what Connected Circles stands for as a community. We are a learning organization for all.
